Eating Disorders

Eating disorders are severe psychological illnesses requiring treatment from multiple health professionals. They have been described as a combination of factors that produce “the perfect storm.” Biological, psychological, social, and interpersonal factors can lead to these serious and sometimes fatal illnesses. Behaviors include, but are not limited to, severe disturbances in a person’s eating behaviors and obsessions with food, body weight, and shape.
